Cassie Bastin

Nepotism is alive and well at Colonel Headquarters… but only on a part-time basis.  This Colonel Bastin is Ambassador Glen’s Lady.  During the fall months, Cassie runs a mean calculator totaling contributions part of the day and also answers the phone and assists in the Emporium.  If you wonder what she does with the rest of her time, well suffice it to say she is the only Headquarters’ associate who has had a hole-in-one.

Cathy “CQ” Quayle

Cathy “CQ” Quayle is the newest member of our organization.  She answers the Membership Hot line and responds to the many emails at info@kycolonels.org. CQ actually wears many hats, one of which could be Mickey Mouse ears, since she collects (and receives as gifts) Mickey memorabilia.  When she is not reading (her favorite pastime), she “enjoys” cutting the grass, planting flowers and cooking. She also plays a mean game of golf.  Incidentally, when CQ talks about cousin Dan, she is referring to former VP Dan Quayle and, yes; she had a front row seat at the inauguration.

Glen Bastin

Glen carries two business cards – sort of.  He is the Honorable Order’s Senior Ambassador and Chief Operating Officer.  Several years ago, Glen was the answer on one of the trivia cards in the Kentucky Trivia game that came out when Trivial Pursuit was the rage.  He’ll show you that card whether you want to see it or not.  Ambassador Glen is member of the Kentucky Journalism Hall of Fame. During his 30 plus years in broadcasting, Glen traveled the width and breadth of Kentucky and provides a wealth of knowledge about the state and its people to the Colonels organization.  Ambassador Glen and Colonel Cassie live just outside Louisville.  The have a 30 something daughter, a precious toddler Godson (John-Michael) and a poodle.

Kory Sauer

Call our Headquarters phone and you’ll like be greeted by Colonel Sauer.  We sent her to school awhile back to learn the intricacies of the various computer programs we operate with.  So, what little spare time she has in the office is generally spent leafing through a bunch of manuals looking for solutions to problems the rest of us present to her.  Kory is the twenty-something baby of our staff.  But, as some of us know, it really won’t be long before she’ll be forty-something and have over twenty years experience with the Honorable Order.  One of Kory’s past-times is making sure husband Lenny washes her car regularly.  She exercises daily by chasing her three year old son, Brady.

Linda G. Boone

Colonel Boone started working for the Honorable Order at age 14.  Not really.  She just looks 14 in the staff photograph from the early 70’s when she joined the Colonels’ staff as a typist.  While working her way up to Corporate Secretary and General Manager of HOKC Headquarters, Linda did everything from licking stamps (they used to do that you know) to getting personally acquainted with all 100,000 plus members of the Order… well, at least most of them.  Linda also is current keeper of the Great Seal and the rich legacy it symbolizes.  The seal is in good hands.  Colonel Linda and Colonel Leo Boone have a high school aged daughter and thus the full time hobby of attending all the extracurricular functions she is involved in.

Mary Ann Houchen

Colonel Houchen wears several hats at Headquarters.  She serves as Treasurer of the Organization, manages the Kentucky Colonels Emporium and, most importantly, takes care of the office plants and makes sure all our computers have the necessary upgrades.  Mary Ann joined the Colonels’ organization after several years in the banking business. We sometimes refer to her as “Heidi” which is short for High Detail.  Absolutely nothing gets by Mary Ann.  A great quality for someone who watches the money!   Colonel Houchen has now passed her 15th anniversary with us.  She is very active in her church.  She is also the Headquarters expert on traffic school (speeding ticket).
