Kentucky Colonels’ Day on Millionaire’s Row 2013
Over the 139 years of the Kentucky Derby, the prime viewing areas of historic Churchill Downs became known as “Millionaire’s Row”. Today, during Derby week, the area includes rooms with names such as Skye Terrace, Trophy Room and, yes, two rooms that now official carry the name “Millionaire’s Row”.
The Honorable Order books that entire area of the Downs on the second Saturday in November for Kentucky Colonels’ Day on Millionaire’s Row. The event combines ten exciting thoroughbred races with a party in Kentucky Colonel style. To make it a complete weekend, there is a lavish get acquainted cocktail reception held Friday evening at the Headquarters Hotel.
The event is by invitation only. Invitations are issued in May to Colonels who have supported the Good Works Program with a minimum donation of $25 over the past 18 months. Dates for 2013 are November 8 & 9. The cost is $65 per person which includes the Friday evening reception and Saturday at Churchill Downs. A gourmet buffet lunch is included on Saturday.
The Honorable Order also reserves the entirety of two hotels for the weekend. Rooms in the facilities are available on a discounted basis to holders of tickets for the event. Motor Coach transportation from the hotels to the Downs is available for an additional fee.
Each year tickets have sold out rapidly. 2,240 will be available this year.
