We’re often asked, “How can I become more involved with the Kentucky Colonels?”

Great question!

Your Kentucky Colonel commission is a lifetime appointment. Your membership in the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels is voluntary and simply requires an annual donation to our Good Works Program. There are “Donate Now” buttons on every page of this website. If you prefer a good old-fashioned check, we can accommodate that. Just mail it to:

Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels
943 South First Street
Louisville, KY 40203

There are many other ways of getting involved with the Honorable Order of Kentucky Colonels.

Nominate

You can help grow the ranks of our organization by nominating someone you believe is deserving of becoming a Kentucky Colonel. Just visit the governor’s nomination page.

Merchandise

Don’t forget to show your Colonel Pride! Kentucky Colonel merchandise lets our membership proclaim — beyond the certificate on their wall – “I am proud to be a Kentucky Colonel!” Browse our online boutique of assorted Kentucky Colonels merchandise (pssst…check back often, we’re constantly introducing new and personalized items for our Colonels.)

Events

Then there are the social activities in which our history is indeed rich! From the Derby Eve galas of the 1930s to our trackside participation and post Derby Barbeques, and fall race days at historic Churchill Downs, the member colonels have historically found many ways to celebrate the Kentucky Colonels.

The most recent evolution of the Kentucky Colonels’ social activities was inaugurated in 2015 with a weekend celebration that included a day of racing at historic Churchill Downs. In 2019, over 600 Colonels from 25 states, Canada, and Italy will flock to Louisville on the first weekend in November for what is now known as Colonels Homecoming.

Volunteer

Whether it’s through our annual Day of Service or helping out with administrative tasks at the Headquarters office, you can make a difference by volunteering your time alongside other Colonels.

If you’re a consumer of social media, please select from your preferred platform and engage with us on everything from Facebook and Twitter to Instagram and YouTube. We use those channels to keep members informed, share Colonels’ history and facts, as well as stage an occasional contest.

So, c’mon, Colonel. Get involved!
